Accomodation

July is peak tourist season for Bath, so it’s best to book somewhere as early as you can.  There is everything from cute Bed and Breakfasts, the chain hotels, to high-end hotels. The official tourist site is the best way to find somewhere to stay: http://visitbath.co.uk/accommodation

Arriving by air

Via Bristol airport (the nearest). There are three ways to Bath. 1. Taxis are at the airport: it is 45 mins to Bath. 2. Buses to Bath: http://www.bristolairport.co.uk/getting-to-the-airport/by-airport-express-link.aspx. 3. Taxi or bus to Bristol Temple Meads rail station, then a train to Bath (c.15mins, they run every 20 mins or so).

Via Heathrow. Take the Heathrow Express to London Paddington (very frequent, journey time 15mins, tickets can be easily bought at Heathrow). Trains to Bath from London Paddington run every 30mins, journey time to Bath 1hour 30mins. NB. update: add 30 mins to travel time due to line works.
